"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." -Audrey Hepburn
Different backgrounds and perspectives have an important influence on the individual knowledge about the issue and the actions taken to resolve this issue. That is why it was important for our group to branch outside of our own realms of knowledge and see the importance of gardening through different perspectives. By researching reliable resources, asking experts in this field important questions about our topic, and deliberating the best solutions together, our group has come in contact with these diverse perspectives and interpretations. One of the common perspectives that we have seen are people not knowing all the wonderful benefits of gardening which causes them to believe that gardening isn’t essential. However, our research clearly shows that gardening is greatly beneficial and influential in children’s lives.
Lots of different factors influence these perspectives. For example, many schools and educational programs lack both the resources and knowledge to provide adequate gardening education to their students, which is mostly due to funding and budgeting. As result, many schools do not have the money to spend on extracurricular programs, like gardening. This is why our group finds this issue extremely important and why we want to help bring access to gardening education to more kids in our community.
